Magazine front cover ideas- Jennifer

With the first idea, I decided to go for a simple look, something the readers will be able to read. Also I made sure that the picture was in the centre of the magazine, so when the audience pick it up, the first thing that may catch their eye will be the image of the scientist.
The company's logo has been placed on the right hand side of the page, I did this so that when the audience pick up the magazine they will then know what company created the magazine also they will then be able to tell other people about their experiences when reading the magazine. Information about other films will be given, the films giving will be of the same genre for film fanatics.

The layout for the second magazine, looks more legit, more professional than the other two I had planned out. More information for the readers have been placed at the bottom of the page, so they do not loose their focus on the main image.

The final layout I planned for the magazine, looks much more complicated on the page. Where the image is placed, it seems as if there is too much going on, having added the info about other films, the bar code. Also the audience may loose focus on what the title of the film is seeing as its at the bottom of the main image.

Our Day at the Studio- Jennifer

These are the props we used for our final product

Beaker with vimto, mountain dew and other props
                                           that our actor used

Paris our make up artist is preparing
to apply make up on our actor

Jeffrey our actor is cleaning his face
With the make up wipes provided
Paris begins to apply the make up, on the actors left side

Here's a view of what she has done so far

As you can see the actors make up is finished
Paris used the black eye shadow to add an effect that looked like dirt on his face

OJ and Paris are setting up the tripod for the camera
Remembering the steps we took when we learnt how to set up a tripod

Checking the balance is in place, this way the camera will not fall of whilst filming

We marked the spot where we wanted our actor to stand, for the filming of the final product
OJ is positioning the camera in place, ready to film
 Acting takes place

We also tried top film from the outside, to make it look as if someone was watching

Skills Development- Jennifer

Seeing as there weren't enough computers ( macs) in the editing suit on Thursday 9th February 2012, we then had to move all our files onto the LaCie External Drive ( the orange and silver block).

We used " DaFont.com" to download our font for our final product.

We also used 'motion' on the mac, which will help is complete our final product. ( the text we are going to use)

The font we decided to use for our final product was  '28 days later', which we downloaded from 'dafont.com'.

Towards the end of our final product we decided to change the pace of the heart beat. ( slow at the beginning and from there the pace will increase gradually)

A problem encountered with the sound whilst we were editing, therefore we then had to re-import the sound of the heartbeat, so we were able to use it again as it had stopped working.

Instead of changing the speed each heartbeat, we can overlap the sound towards the end of the trailer.

We then decided to see how far the heartbeat could stretch to without making it any faster. After a while, we decided to shorten  the sound every time to increase the heartbeat in our final product. The only part we didn't shorten were the parts at the end where (when you get a chance to watch our final product) we have the flat line of the heartbeat and the TV friction.

We found that there was a problem with the sound as we were cutting it, however, we found out that all we needed to do was move the space an extra bit closer to each other.

We decided to go for a very simple picture taken by Paris, for our magazine front cover. The image is a close up of our actor Jeffrey ( the scientist). Behind him is the lab equipment.

Sources used for audience feedback

These are the sources I used to receive feedback for my media project. With these I was able to get information from my target audience to get their views on what they feel about horror and film in particular.
I will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of using this type of research for my product.

This type of research is quick and easy to get from the audience, also it gives me an idea of peoples views about film itself and it is less time consuming. However some respondents may not give detailed responses to the questions asked, which may lead to bias self-opinionated views.

This type of research allowed me to get more personal responses which would help me with the final product.

What I have learnt about audience feedback

Audience feedback is essential for the success for our final product, as it enables us to see mistakes we may not have noticed as well as to see how the potential audience will respond our final product.

This is very important, as a member of the "opaque production" team I want to make sure that the feedback  I get is reasonable for the final product.

Feedback from the audience ensures me that I am following the conventions and meeting the interest and expectations of the potential audience.
